California really does have a little bit of everything. Beautiful oceans all the coast, stunning mountains, fairytale-like forest in Northern California, and of course if you head a bit inland, you will come across the most incredible deserts. I had the opportunity to do an editorial shoot in the Anza Borrego Desert which is located in the Colorado desert of Southern California. We explored Anza Borrego with three different concepts to photograph all around this beautiful desert, which is just a bit inland of San Diego. This was planned stunningly by Reed and Rye and I’m obsessed with every last detail of it!
The first editorial concept planned by Reed and Rye was a vibey beige Volkswagen backdropped with the SoCal desert. The Volkswagen was completely filled with hundreds of flowers to create the dreamiest mood for this photoshoot. Our Model, Lauren Goode was wearing a short, fitted white dress, with off the shoulder sleeves. She had white framed sunglasses, as well as high heels with bows on them, which gave all the vintage vogue feels of my dreams. One of my favorite things about this photoshoot was just how neutral everything was, most of the color palette consisted of white and beiges which are my favorite!
The next concept for this editorial styled shoot was angelic and boho. This time Lauren wore an off white, cascading, and flowy dress with the very light beige desert behind her, not only as her backdrop, but also as her prop. She frolicked, danced, and sunbathed all over the Anzo Borrego. Lauren truly seemed like a desert angel and was absolutely stunning in front of the camera. The ethereal and desert vibes combined really made some magic happen!
The third and final concert for this styled shoot was set right in the middle of these beautiful desert mountains. Lauren was wearing a beige and white blazer and white dress underneath. Her outfit perfectly blends and coordinates with the desert surrounding her, but she stands out with her business causal outfit and shoes in hand. This concept was also equipped with a film camera, where it seems as if the Lauren is just sightseeing and embracing nature to its fullest on her day off. This was such a creative and cool idea and I loved getting to capture it.
All the details of this shoot were just incredible and so well thought out by Reed and Rye. I loved having the opportunity to get creative and try new things and explore new places. The Anza Borrego desert was absolutely stunning and all the cool details of this shoot just made it that much better. So, who’s ready to go on a desert photoshoot with me?!
