Hidden in the breathtaking scenery of California’s Santa Monica Mountains, Calamigos Ranch served as the perfect backdrop for Marissa and Scott’s wedding day—a celebration filled with love, emotion, and unforgettable moments. Despite the unexpected arrival of Hurricane Hilary which caused a downpour of rain, Marissa and Scott still made the most of their beautiful wedding day. From the stunning Calamigos Ranch to Marissa wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier, this wedding was one for the books.
Calamigos Ranch is an absolute gorgeous Southern California wedding venue, with its sprawling landscapes covered with oak trees and lush greenery. From the moment you step foot on its grounds, you’re surrounded by a sense of tranquility and natural beauty—an idyllic setting for a wedding celebration that dreams are made of right in Southern California. Calamigos is exactly what you’d expect from a venue located right in the middle of Malibu.
Marissa’s choice of wedding dress—a stunning piece by Monique Lhuillier—was classy, unique, and elegant. With delicate flower details scattered across the gown, long off-the-shoulder sleeves, and a sweeping train, she looked absolutely radiant with the backdrop of SoCals Calamigos Ranch. Monique Lhuillier wedding dress design perfectly complemented Marissa’s natural beauty and elegance and one of my favorite details of the day.
Marissa and Scott had a first look with the beautiful windows of Calamigo’s Ranch as their backdrop. They cried an enjoyed the moment together before their ceremony and all the wedding festivities that were soon to begin.
The ceremony took place beneath a stunning floral arch, adorned with soft-colored flowers. Marissa and Scott’s adorable little dog added an extra layer of love and joy to the day. As Marissa walked down the aisle, you will see from her photos that she hid her face adorably behind her bouquet so conceal her tears from the guest. Marissa and Scott said their I do’s and the ceremony seamlessly rolled into the reception.
Events by McKenna ensured that every detail of the day was executed flawlessly, allowing Marissa and Scott to focus on what truly mattered—their love for each other. From coordinating with vendors to handling last-minute adjustments, she and her teams expertise was evident in every aspect of the day. I so enjoyed working with Events by McKenna.
Marissa and Scott shared their first dance under a canopy of indoor string lights and then continued celebrating all throughout the evening with touching speeches and dancing the night away. For the reception, Marissa changed into a short dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves, and of course we snapped some vintage direct flash photos of them enjoying their reception on both film and digital. Marissa and Scott spent the rest of their night laughing, celebrating, and dancing with all their closest friends and family.
The day after Marissa and Scott’s wedding, we headed back out to Calamigos Ranch to snap some more photos that we weren’t able to capture the day before due to the weather. Exploring the grounds of Calamigos Ranch and capturing the breathtaking beauty that surrounded us was a dream. From intimate moments beneath the shade of oak trees to the rolling hills in the backdrop, this Malibu wedding venue is absolutely stunning. I had the best time exploring Calamigos Ranch the day after Marissa and Scott’s wedding and was evening happier to catch their photography vision for their wedding day.
In the end, Marissa and Scott’s wedding at Calamigos Ranch was just stunning. And as their photographer, I feel honored to have been a part of their special day, capturing the magic of their love amidst the timeless beauty of Calamigos Ranch.
